Divine Mercy Sunday might be the greatest day of the year due to the immense amount of mercy that Christ pours out on the earth. Here is the exact wording of the Divine Mercy promise given by Christ to Faustina: “Our Lord Jesus said, The soul that will go to confession and receive Holy Communion shall obtain complete for- giveness of sins and punishment. On that day, the floodgates through which graces flow are opened. Let no soul fear to draw near to Me, even though its sins be as scarlet…Mankind will have no peace until it turns to the Fount of My Mercy. —Saint Faustina, Diary, 699 This grace-filled day begins with Confes- sions at 1:30 p.m. and will be heard until 3 p.m. Adoration, Benediction and the Rosary will begin at 2 p.m. At 3 p.m., the “Hour of Great Mercy,” the Chaplet of Divine Mercy will be re- cited with the Sacred Liturgy to follow. The celebrant will be Fr. Marcin Dudziak, pastor of Our Lady of Lourdes Parish in Mobile. You are encouraged to pray the Novena of Divine Mercy in preparation for this great Feast.The Novena begins on Good Friday. Attendees are asked to bring lawn chairs, if possible. On the Sunday after Easter the entire Church is called to gather and celebrate the extraordinary mercy Jesus has promised to those who approach Him with trust and ex- pectant faith. The celebration at Holy Spirit Parish in- cludes Exposition of the Blessed Sacrament, Confession, Chaplet of Divine Mercy and Benediction. A reception will follow in the parish hall.
