It is for us to win minds and hearts for Christ. “Although we may to do this in a variety of ways, in the final analysis it is not programs which will evangelize,it is disciples. The early Church did not spread be- cause they had developed good programs, but because they were disciples and witnessed to their commitment to Christ by their lives and their words.” The Chrism Mass also in- cludes the blessing of the oil of catechumens for baptism, and the oil of the sick. Archbishop Rodi also consecrated chrism, a mixture of oil and balsam, which will be used for the sacraments of baptism, confirmation and holy orders. Each parish in the archdio- cese obtains a portion of the blessed oils for the year. Archbishop Rodi also for- mally announced that Deacon Andrew Jones, Deacon Gilbert Pierre and Patrick Gilbreath have received their letters call- ing them to ordination. Deacon Jones and Deacon Pierre are scheduled to be ordained priests, while Gilbreath is scheduled to be ordained a deacon on June 2 at the Cathedral-Basilica of the Immaculate Conception.
