ABOVE: St. Mary eighth-grader Gabriella Fresolone (third from right) represented her school as the 2024 Red Ribbon Leader. Gabriella was nominated by her teachers for outstanding leadership, and exceeding expectations in the classroom. This year, committee members were also nominated from sixth and seventh grade to help her execute her service project to support First Responders for the Mobile Drug Education Council. Committee members include seventh-graders Brian Holladay (not pictured) and Lily Gohres, as well as sixth-graders Betty O’Dowd, Addy Kahalley, Ella Lee and Clare Tolbert. RIGHT: St. Mary’s first-grade classes kicked off their reading centers for the new school year. St. Mary’s Thomas O’Dowd focuses on his reading skills! LEFT: Students worked in groups to test their knowledge of vocabulary terms by playing Scrabble. They were provided clues for the terms and they had to get the word right, spelled right and add all the points together. RIGHT: St. Mary Catholic School welcomed all students back on Aug. 12 for the opening day of school. As students met their new teachers and fellow students, most also jumped right into their classroom’s technology. Pictured is St. Marys first-grade teacher, Mrs. Hanna Bolling demonstrating a lesson for the class on the SMART Board with student Harris Ankerson. St. Mary Catholic School students showed their Mustang spirit on Sept. 13 at the Lip during a McGill-Toolen Catholic High School football game. Great food and games were at hand for an evening uniting all Catholic schools together!
