Catholic University Special Collection ByThe CatholicWeek MOBILE - McGill-Toolen Catholic High School launched on Oct. 3, the two-year “Great- est of All Gifts” initiative, focused on celebrating and encouraging legacy giving. This event marked the official kickoff of the “Legacy of Love” campaign, which invites sup- porters to make legacy gifts that will benefit the school in the years to come. With McGill-Toolen’s 130th anniversary approach- ing in 2026, the goal is to have 130 Lipscomb Legacy Society members—individuals who have committed to leaving a legacy gift that will secure the future of Catholic education at McGill-Toolen. The event featured words from donors Trey Mayhall, Kenny Crow and Bradley Sanders, each sharing their reasons for supporting McGill- Toolen through planned giving. "Legacy planning involves taking time to consider what impact you want your wealth to have on your family and your community,”Mayhall said. “Once you have confidence you have allocated sufficient assets to your family to achieve your desired impact, you can consider including charitable organizations that are commit- ted to your values.” Crow shared how consider- ing his legacy planning goals made him realize he had assets, including a life insurance policy his children wouldn’t need. He considered the influence of McT on five generations of his family and decided to use the policy as a legacy gift to McT. He then had what he thought would be a delicate conversa- tion with his family about nam- ing McGill-Toolen Catholic as a beneficiary of his policy. His family was receptive to his decision, admiring his desire to continue his giving at McT in perpetuity. Sanders, a younger-genera- tion Lipscomb Legacy Society member, reflected, “There is no better time than now to do something that in my heart I know is right and what God is calling me to do.The inde- scribable joy of knowing that my small gift plays a vital role in helping the next generation attain holiness through their formation and education at McGill-Toolen Catholic has been a blessing.” Andrew Murchison, a member of the class of 2025, also spoke and recognized cur- rent Lipscomb Legacy Society members - "It is through your commitment and strength of character that the destiny of Catholic education at McGill- Toolen Catholic High School will be secure." -Contact Jenna Wood, execu- tive director of the McGill-Toolen Foundation, at 251-422-6467 or woodj@mcgill-toolen.org for more.
