Montague said she was mo- tivated to March for Life after the inaugural Women’s March didn’t support a pro-life mes- sage as well as hearing pro-life speaker Abby Johnson. “”I was just really getting up- set and I had just heard Abby Johnson talk and I was on fire and saying ‘why are we not marching?’ Well, why aren’t we? But I said, ‘OK God, I can’t do this if you don’t give me a sign. That same day, (fellow pro-life voice) Beth Perkins put on her Facebook page ‘let’s go pray at Planned Parenthood because of this march and we need to stand for the rights of the unborn. “I put on her Facebook page, ‘well, why aren’t we marching?” She called me right after that and that was the beginning of everything.” The entire local March for Life was put together in less than a week. This year’s march has been organized over months. “We had a lot of people say I wish I had more notice and I say ‘yeah, I wish I had more notice too,’ ” Montague joked. “It was definitely the Holy Spirit open- ing doors.” This year’s speakers include Archangel Radio “Live Hour” host Todd Sylvester, who will discuss the importance of men in the pro-life movement, and Archdiocese of Mobile Chancel- lor Deacon Ronnie Hathorne. While there will certainly be Catholic representation at the march, it is not solely a Catholic event. For example, the national organization Secular Pro-Life has been invited to play an au- dio message. “I think we all have to stand united and not have sections of Pro-Life Christians, Pro-life Atheists and Pro-Life Demo- crats and Pro-life Republicans. We’ve all got to stand united. This is a big cause and we can do this.” She added: “I went to the na- tional Pro-Life Women’s Con- ference in June and that really opened my eyes. “There were re- ligious sisters literally next to the table of the Pro-Life Democrats, next to the table of the Pro-Life Alliance of Gays and Lesbians. It showed how the issue of life can connect us all. Those of us who are Catholic and are Chris- tian can use that as a gateway to witness in other areas.” March From page 1 Correction Fr. L. Russell Biven was incorrectly identified as being pastor of Our Savior Parish “from its inception in 1987” until 2006 on Page 1 in the Dec. 22 edition of “The Catholic Week.”While Fr. Biven was pastor from 1987-2006, he was not the first pas- tor of the parish.
